Award for Event Champions
The Black Hills Roundup Champion Award is more than just a trophy—it’s a tribute to the legacy of South Dakota’s rodeo tradition. Every year, I have the honor of crafting 10 bronzes for the champions of this event, and each one tells a story of grit, hard work, and that cowboy spirit.
This one’s close to home for me. It’s a reflection of everything the Black Hills Roundup stands for. When a champion takes home one of these bronzes, they’re not just holding an award—they’re carrying a piece of rodeo history.
The design comes straight from the Black Hills Roundup emblem—a cowboy riding a bronc, capturing the heart of the rodeo. Crafted using the lost wax method I’ve been refining for decades, each bronze goes through a meticulous process from wax to molten metal, coming out with a patina that breathes life into the sculpture.
