Humpback Morning

Description

When I created “Humpback Morning” back in ’92, I wanted to capture that split-second where a cowboy and bronc are locked in their wild dance—right as the horse goes into a hard sunfish buck. It’s that moment where time almost stands still, and you’re either hangin’ on or headed for the dirt.

This piece is one of 250, and every inch of it is a nod to the grit and resilience that rodeo demands. From the bend of the bronc’s neck to the set of the rider’s hand, I aimed to bring that tension to life. This isn’t just a bronze—it’s a tribute to the cowboys who live for these moments and the broncs that make ’em work for it.
