Some cowboys are just born to ride, and Jesse Bail’s one of ‘em. I’ve always admired the kind of grit and determination that takes a rider from the ranch to the rodeo, and Jesse’s story has all of that and more. From growing up on the family ranch in South Dakota, riding anything that would buck, to making his mark as a world-class saddle bronc and bull rider, he’s as tough and true as they come.
With this piece, I wanted to capture that raw, unshakable confidence Jesse’s known for—that moment in the ride where it’s just him, the bronc, and eight seconds of pure determination. Whether it’s saddle broncs or bulls, Jesse rides like he means it, and I did my best to show that spirit in every curve of the bronze.
This sculpture isn’t just about one cowboy—it’s about every young ranch hand who’s ever set their sights on the rodeo and worked hard to get there. It’s a tribute to Jesse, to the spirit of South Dakota cowboys, and to every ride that starts with a little grit and a lot of guts.
