Every cowboy’s story starts somewhere, and for most of us, it begins with a rope in hand and a stick calf in tow. I wanted to capture that spark—when a kid first dreams of riding, roping, and living the cowboy life.

This piece shows a young cowpoke, rope swinging high, giving it his all on a calf that’s more imagination than critter. It’s the kind of scene you see on ranches everywhere—kids learning the ropes, mimicking the cowboys they look up to, and chasing a dream that’ll stick with them for life.

‘The Beginning’ is about those first moments when the cowboy spirit takes root. With this bronze, I wanted to honor not just the kids out there dreaming big, but the families and traditions that keep the cowboy way alive for the next generation.
